FEBRUARY NEWS:  The state parole board has formally recommended Bruce Davis for parole.  Governor Brown has until March 3 to act on it.

I missed the release, but there's a new book by Susan Atkins, "The Myth of Helter Skelter."  Amazon has it as paperback and Kindle.

OCTOBER NEWS:  The Charles "Tex" Watson tapes have yet to be released to LAPD detectives.  Court filings have revealed police are hoping for information on twelve additional murders.  The federal judge in Texas is currently blocking the tapes' release but not due to attorney-client privilege.    He just says there's no reason to change the usual bankruptcy appeal process.

Bruce Davis was recommended for parole but the final decision rests in the hands of Governor Jerry Brown.  First it will be reviewed by the full parole board, though.  It might take a while before it's over.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE:  A while back I added some computer renderings of the Sharon Tate house but I don't think I ever added links to the page!  They've been added to the "Cielo Drive" and "Photos & Info" pages, now.

I've added some photos of actress Samantha Eggar at Cielo Drive.  These came from an online auction ad so have some large print across them.  If anybody can provide clean copies, it would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks to Joni!!

JUNE NEWS:  Tex has appealed to federal court to block the release of his tapes to police.  LAPD is hoping to obtain them next week.

The judge denied Charles "Tex" Watson's request to keep his tapes out of LAPD's hands.

The parole hearing for Bruce Davis was postponed due to Davis being ill.

Tex says there's nothing about additional murders on the tapes.  He also says it's okay for police to listen but not copy them.  Unless he has faulty memory, it sounds like there are no big revelations coming.  Read here.

A killer confessed to Bruce Davis who kept it secret nearly twenty years.  Read it here.

An online newspaper claims there's going to be a new Barker Ranch dig based on the Charles "Tex" Watson tapes.  Considering police haven't even heard the tapes yet, that's certainly a questionable claim.  The quote from Paul Dostie is from 2008 rather than recently.

Check the June 2012 issue of "Ear Candy" for an interview with filmmaker Robert Hendrickson.

MAY NEWS:  Detectives may be getting their hands on audio tapes that Charles "Tex" Watson recorded with his attorney in 1971 or 1972.  A judge has ordered them turned over, but not for a couple of weeks because Watson's current attorney is protesting.  Police are hoping the tapes will help solve additional murders.  If they don't, they would be very interesting to hear since they would show Watson's thoughts at a time shortly after the crimes.  Plus, they could reveal some trial strategy such as how to cast blame on Charles Manson.  Read here and here.

APRIL NEWS:  Remember Matthew Roberts, the possible son of Charles Manson?  DNA tests have been performed.  When compared with Manson's likely grandson, the results are "no."  Roberts battles on, though.  He does rather resemble Manson so I hope he gets a test with DNA straight from Manson.

Here's an article on the friendship that has developed between Debra Tate and Barbara Hoyt.

Charles Manson was denied parole and will not have another hearing for fifteen years.  It seems doubtful he will live that long so we may never see new video of him.

MARCH NEWS:  Maxwell Keith passed away March 6.  He was a defense attorney for Leslie Van Houten and Charles "Tex" Watson.

FEBRUARY NEWS:  There's been some legal proceedings related to Bruce Davis.

If you're in the Hollywood area, you should attend "California Dreamin'."  It's a play based on the belief that Charles Manson knew Abigail Folger well before the murders.  The theory is probably best publicized in "The Ultimate Evil."  Click here for the LA Times review.  Click here for the Facebook page.

There's a few new books out.  One is "Knocking Out the Devil" about Charles Manson's grandson and includes photos of Manson's ex-wife, Rosalie.  Amazon has the Kindle edition.  You can purchase the paperback at KnockingOutTheDevil.Com.

Another release is "Restless Souls: The Sharon Tate Family's Account of Stardom, the Manson Murders, and a Crusade for Justice."  Wow!  That title is practically a book all by itself.  It's by Alisa Statman and Brie Tate (who's name isn't really Tate unless she's changed it).  Brie is Sharon's niece.  Click here for the CBS story (and video) about the book.  Around 3:50 in the video is an interesting story about Sharon's father, Paul Tate.  He staked out  the Cielo house after the murders and saw two bikers ride to the gate and cause a bit of a scene.  He then followed them.  Where did they go?  Spahn Ranch!  I've previously heard a story of Paul supposedly watching the Family from the hills (I believe at Barker Ranch), but don't know if that is in this book or not.

Another recent Kindle book is "Sharon Tate" by Andrew Yorke.

And then there's "Sharon Tate: The Biography" by Ed Sanders (best known as author of "The Family."  It reportedly came out in October but is already listed as being out of print.  Has anybody actually seen a copy?
